Course PrerequisitesPrerequisites are courses and/or information that are required before registration can be completed in a specific course. If students are currently enrolled in the prerequisite, they will be allowed to register for the course in question. All prerequisites may be considered met if students present evidence of credit earned in equivalent courses or if knowledge equivalent to the prerequisites indicated is demonstrated. In these cases, students will need to obtain an override from the academic department or instructor before registering. Many courses have co-requisites, which are courses that may be taken in the same semester. All pre- and co-requisites are enforced. A course prerequisite may be found in the online class schedule by first selecting the course, then scrolling down and clicking on the green "View Catalog Entry". Course RestrictionsCourse restrictions are placed on courses to allow or not allow students to register. Courses may be restricted to certain majors, minors, class levels, etc. These restrictions may change during the registration period. To view course restrictions from the online class schedule, select the course in which you are interested and then click on the green course title. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page. If there are any restrictions, they appear on the left-hand side. CreditsSelection of credits during registration is not required unless the course is offered for variable credit. Indicate the number of credits desired when registering for variable credit courses. SectionsSections in multi-section course may be offered in different weeks within the semester. Care in selection of course sections is important to prevent time conflicts between courses. GradingThe grading options available for a specific course are defined in the course listings. If pass/fail or audit grading is desired, this option must be selected after registration and during the authorized schedule change period for the course. If the text says "Contact the department for registration:, students must contact the department offering the course to get the departmental approval and the CRN. Course FeesCertain courses carry a special fee which is assessed at the time a student registers for courses. Since the costs are determined annually, course fees may vary from the stated amount listed in this section. Consult the class schedule for a given term for the latest course fee amounts. Certain courses carry a variable fee, not shown in the class schedule, which is based on the student's use of expendable material and is assessed by the academic department involved. Consult the academic department for the specific amount. All special course fees will be assessed and collected through standard student accounts receivable procedures. No fees should be paid directly to academic departments or individuals.
